PAIGE BREVICK

Paige Brevick specializes in Egyptology and teaches the cross-listed course Art and Archaeology of Ancient Egypt and Western Asia at the University of Minnesota. She is a professional archaeologist and conducts fieldwork with teams in the Middle East. She has served as a consultant on numerous exhibitions and re-installations of ancient art galleries in the United States. Her current dissertation research focuses on exhibitionary strategy in redeveloped Egyptian gallery displays, discussing object selection, design, and narrative. Other research areas include pXRF, animal mummies, and meteorites in Egyptian and Near Eastern mythology.

 

Paige has worked for over 10 years on projects related to looting and heritage site management, mainly working in the MENA region. In 2019-2020 she contributed to the Circulating Artefacts Project in the Department of Egypt and Sudan at the British Museum. In 2023 she was a consulting author on the College Art Association's new guidelines, Statement Concerning the Acquisition of Cultural Properties Originating from Abroad, from Indigenous Cultures, and from Private Collections During the Nazi Era. And since 2016, she has served as the Executive Director of Saving Antiquities for Everyone (SAFE), a non-profit devoted to combatting the illicit antiquities trade through grassroots efforts and working with communities on the ground.
